Sun 28th Feb - Zone Sporting  FLYER

Avondale Pony Club is  hosting the zone sporting event with help from Manly Warringah and Forest Hills clubs. The event will be at Forest Hills since they have all the equipment and easy access and parking. We need help from all families in the pony club on that day (Feb 28th).

Next Rally Day

Sunday 21st Feb. You can choose between the closed sporting competition at Manly Warringah and a rally day at Avondale for those who do not want to do sporting.

Jamboree News

Ashleigh Wiseman, Teisha Wiseman and Maddie Chappelow attended 2009 Zone 23 Jamboree held at Castle Hill Showground representing Avondale Pony club.

There were around 60 riders and this was their was their very first Jamboree along with their Mum's. Ashleigh and Maddie competed in the 10yrs while Teisha in the 8yrs. The girls excelled themselves in all the disciplines of hacking, dressage, sporting and Gamblers Stakes.

Ashleigh won overall Champion for the 10's, Maddie came 2nd overall in the sporting, did a lovely dressage, hacking and showjump. Teisha came 3rd in the sporting, remembered her dressage enjoyed the hacking. They all enjoyed the huge water fight to beat the heat.

Fantastic work girls, we are very proud of you.

Avondale at the Nationals

Congratulations to Tara Rogers and Twiggie (Skyway Lodge Cool Bananas) who will be representing NSW (and Avondale) at the National Pony Club Championships 15th-17th July at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre (Horsley Park). We hope lots of Avondale members will go out to support them.

Please contact Gaye Rogers if you'd like to volunteer at the championships

Edwina Alexander DVD

International showjumper and former Avondale member Edwina Alexander came back to share her amazing experiences with us. Edwina told us about her horses, chatted to members, answered many questions and presented awards. Thanks to Simon Reeve we have a wonderful film record of this visit, professionally edited onto DVD and reproduced by Furdography.

These DVDs are available for sale as a club fundraiser. Contact Brenda Tripp on 0419 378 542

State Junior Showjumping championships

Kirrily and Emily Mann competed at these in Canberra in October.  Kirrily and Rocky were Winners of the Grand Prix with the only clear round in a large (1m+) jump off against tough, experienced competition.  What's more competitors did not walk the jump off before riding. Unfortunately Tops was bitten by something (ok now) so she and Emily's competition was cut short.

Northside Showjumping

Jess Tripp won the 85cms - with about 40 entries- that's tough competition. Well done Jess.

Australian Young Rider Dressage Championships

Molly Marks-Meenan and Bella MacNamara competed in the Pony Preliminary class of the Australian Young Rider Dressage Championships.  NSW YR State Champs were run at the same time.

Molly was 8th in 1C, 12th in 1D.
Bella was 5th in 1C and 3rd in 1D and was overall third Pony Preliminary (Australian Champs), and NSW Reserve Champion.

Northside Combined Training

It was a one-two for Avondale with Emily Mann and Helen Diacono 1st and 2nd in the 1.05cm class. well done girls!

Quirindi ODE

Laura Linton-Ffrost, Floss Wood and Helen Diacono competed at the Qurindi ODE last weekend. Quirindi is a sleeply little town about 40 minutes past Scone. It was an excellent venue (though very cold at night) and the cross country course which belongs to the Qurindi Pony Coub is superb. Beautifully built and decorated jumps, long gallops and a gully/creek bed you had to go down and then up out of. Laura and Gullivers Travels did us proud with a 2nd in the Newcomers. Intro here they come! Floss and Helen both had clear cross country runs.

Elinor and Rosie Langtry, Ashleigh Wiseman and Maddie Chappelow entertained the lunchtime crowd at the Copabella Showjumping Championships with a musical ride. See photo gallery

Please send any results, photos and news to Jose.
